Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
TrackMyLeader™ is a non-partisan civic transparency platform operated by Stellar Patterns Development Centre. This policy explains what information the platform handles, why it publishes information about public officials, and how you can contact us about personal information.
1. Information we collect from visitors
You can browse TrackMyLeader without creating an account. The platform does not offer public user accounts; accounts exist only for the internal editorial and administrative team.
We collect personal information in these limited cases:
- Newsletter subscriptions. When you subscribe we store your email address, the page you subscribed from, your subscription status, and the date of subscription. A notification containing your email address is sent to our editorial inbox.
- Contributions and corrections. The contribution form opens your own email application with the submission pre-filled; it is sent to us as an ordinary email. Any name or email address you choose to include is optional and reaches us only through that email.
- Direct email. Messages you send to our editorial address, including whatever details you include in them.
- Administrator accounts. Email address and authentication details for editorial staff only.
2. Website and technical data
TrackMyLeader does not run advertising trackers, cookie-based analytics, or third-party marketing pixels. We do not use cookies to profile visitors.
The site stores one small value in your browser's local storage to remember that you have already seen and accepted the welcome screen, so it is not shown on every visit. Signed-in administrators also have a session stored in their browser.
As with any website, our hosting and backend providers process ordinary technical request data (such as IP address and browser user-agent) in server logs in order to deliver and secure the service.
3. Information we publish about public officials
The core of the platform is a record of Nigerian public officials and public institutions: names, offices held, terms of office, political party, official biographical details, public projects, promises, documented controversies, and sub-national debt figures.
This information relates to people in their public and official capacity. We do not knowingly publish private personal details such as home addresses, personal phone numbers, private family information, or medical information.
4. Where published information comes from
Published records are compiled from publicly available sources: official government and institutional records, public databases such as the Debt Management Office, court filings, academic publications, credible media reporting, and reviewed contributions from the public.
Every record carries its sources on the profile page so you can check the original document. AI-generated summaries on the platform are clearly labeled, dated, and derived from these same underlying records; they are interpretation, not new evidence.
5. Why we publish and process this information
The purpose is civic transparency: making verifiable information about public officials and public finances accessible for informational, educational, journalistic and research use. Email addresses collected through the newsletter are used only to send platform updates.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use contributor or subscriber details for advertising.
6. Lawful basis
TrackMyLeader operates in Nigeria and handles personal information in the context of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. We rely on:
- Consent — for newsletter subscriptions, and for any details you voluntarily include in a contribution or email.
- Legitimate and public interest — for publishing information about public officials in their official capacity, including journalistic, academic and research purposes.
Publishing this policy does not by itself amount to a claim that the platform is certified or fully compliant with any law. We aim to handle information lawfully and responsibly, and we welcome being told where we fall short.
7. Data retention
Records about public officials, their sources, and debt figures are retained as an ongoing public archive, since the historical record is the point of the platform. Records are corrected or removed when a review finds that is appropriate.
Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address; every notification email includes an unsubscribe link. Contribution and correction emails are retained in our editorial inbox as part of the sourcing trail for the record they relate to.
We have not yet fixed a formal maximum retention period for editorial correspondence and internal logs. If you want your details removed from that correspondence, email us and we will action it.
8. Corrections, takedown and right of reply
If you are named on this platform, or you act for someone who is, you can ask us to review the record. Email info@trackmyleader.org.ng with the profile or page, the specific statement at issue, and what you say is correct. Where possible include a link or document supporting it.
- Correction. Ask us to correct an inaccurate or outdated fact. Corrections with a verifiable source are the fastest to process.
- Review or takedown. Ask us to remove or unpublish material — for example information that is inaccurate, no longer supportable by its source, or genuinely private rather than official.
- Right of reply. Submit your own response to something published about you. Mark the email “Right of reply”; if we publish your response it will be shown alongside the record and attributed to you.
- Your personal information. Ask what personal information we hold about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted.
Editorial requests submitted through the contact page are reviewed within 3 business days. We cannot guarantee that every takedown request will result in removal — where information is properly sourced and relates to public office, we may keep it published and record your reply instead. We will tell you the outcome either way.
9. Service providers
The platform runs on third-party infrastructure. Our hosting and managed database/authentication provider stores the platform's records and administrator accounts, and an email delivery provider sends notification email from our notify.trackmyleader.org.ng sending domain. AI summaries are produced by a third-party model provider from the platform's own published records; visitor personal information is not sent for summary generation.
These providers process information on our behalf in order to run the service. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
10. Security
Access to the administrative area requires authentication, and database access rules restrict subscriber and editorial data to authorised staff. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, and we make no such guarantee.
11. Children
The platform is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child's information has been submitted to us, email us and we will remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform changes. The revision date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
13. Contact us
For any privacy, data-protection, correction, takedown or right-of-reply matter, email info@trackmyleader.org.ng, or use the contact page. TrackMyLeader is a product of Stellar Patterns Development Centre.
